HCG FAQ

What is HCG?

HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone naturally produced by the placenta in pregnant women and almost completely controls the metabolic function through the hypothalamus throughout the pregnancy. Dr. Simeons found that small regular doses of HCG caused the body to release abnormal fat when used in conjunction with a specific 500 calorie daily diet.

Why the 500 calorie diet?

HCG drops cause your hypothalamus to mobilize the fat out of fat storage so it’s available for use. While you are only consuming 500 calories, your hypothalamus is continually releasing the fat stored in your body. Because of this, your body is actually operating on thousands of calories a day. The result is your body using thousands of calories of fat from your body each day, the reason hCG dieters lose 1 to 2 lbs of fat or more, per day.

What is the hypothalamus gland?

The hypothalamus gland moderates the thyroid, adrenals, fat storage, and more importantly, your metabolic rate.

Will I be hungry on 500 calories a day?

It is common to feel mild hunger during the first few days (especially if you did not binge well), however this will pass and by the 5th day, you will find the servings to be completely satisfying. This is partly due to your hypothalamus adjusting your metabolic rate, but largely due to the amount of calories circulating in your system from the fat being released. It is common that hCG dieters feel as though they are stuffing themselves in order to reach that 500 calorie limit.

What is homeopathic HCG?

Homeopathic HCG comes in a liquid and is taken through drops sublingually (under your tongue). It is manufactured in the United States by an FDA approved homeopathic manufacturer.

Is it safe for men to be putting pregnancy hormone into their bodies?

The HCG protocol is safe for men and even works faster for men. HCG is prescribed for men with certain medical conditions, so this is not the only use of HCG with men.

What effects of HCG can I expect?

Many people report higher energy levels without a nervous or edgy feeling and better sleep besides the expected weight and inches lost.

How much weight will I lose with the HCG diet?

Most HCG dieters report a loss of 1 to 2 lbs a day. At the very least, 1/2 pound a day, and at the most, 3 + lbs a day.

Is it healthy to lose 1 to 2 pounds a day with hCG?

HCG weight loss studies have shown that weight lost following the Simeons protocol comes directly from adipose fat tissue rather than lean muscle. In doing so, the weight lost comes directly from unhealthy fat and does not strip the body of much needed muscle, vitamins or minerals essential to maintain good health, while at the same time, releasing excessive amounts of fat-stored nutrients into the blood stream to be absorbed by the body.

Will I gain the weight back after the hCG diet?

Not only will you have lost physical weight, many people also report a change for the better in appetite, and a natural course of modified eating behavior. Since it takes 21 days to break a bad habit and about that same time to lose the taste buds that make sugar so appealing, the HCG Diet is the perfect opportunity to adopt that healthy lifestyle to maintain your weight. So there is no reason you should gain the weight back, so long as you have replaced any former negative eating and inactive lifestyle habits with new, healthy perspectives on food and exercise. Most people find a minimum amount of daily activity is sufficient to maintaining their HCG weight loss goal.

Will I get a headache?

Headaches may happen the first few days of phase 2, especially if you are detoxing from a lot of soda and sugar. Dr. Stacy has some supplements that help ease the transition a lot less painfully.

What other side effects have people reported?

Leg cramping and slight hair thinning are common with any weight loss. There are many supplements Dr. Stacy can suggest to combat these transition symptoms.

Who developed this protocol?

Dr A.T.W Simeons developed the HCG Protocol in the 1950s. He worked on the study of obesity for 40 years and on this protocol specifically for about 20 years.
